About Excursion
Short overview and main highlights
One day in Imereti that brings together three completely different worlds. In the morning we go down into Prometheus Cave, with halls full of stalactites, stalagmites and an underground river, where you can also take an optional boat ride.
Next comes Tskaltubo, once one of the most sought-after resorts of the Soviet Union. We walk the alleys of its central park and see the abandoned sanatoriums, whose colonnaded halls nature is slowly taking back.
At midday we stop at Otia's Ezo, the house museum of writer Otia Ioseliani, for qvevri wine and an Imeretian lunch. Then Bagrati Cathedral and the centre of Kutaisi with the Colchis Fountain and the White Bridge. The day ends with sunset on the black magnetic sand of Ureki.
