About this Place
One location, many impressions
Gomis Mta is a summer resort in the mountains of Guria, on the Meskheti Range, at about 2,000 m above sea level. A winding serpentine road climbs here from Ozurgeti, through forests and up to alpine meadows. The place is famous for its "sea of clouds": clouds rising from the valleys often settle below the ridge and spread out under the viewpoint like a white ocean. At sunset the slopes and the clouds glow gold and pink. In summer cattle graze the meadows, and wooden houses and cottages dot the slopes. Evenings on the mountain are noticeably cool, so warm clothes are a must. The season usually runs from late spring to autumn. 📷 Photos: Vitaly Zdanevich, Lorenz King, M. / Wikimedia Commons (CC BY-SA)
