One location, many impressions
Keda is a small town in mountainous Adjara, in the Adjaristskali valley, about an hour's drive from Batumi. Keda Municipality is considered the heart of Adjarian winemaking, with family vineyards and wine cellars on the sunny slopes of the valley. The local grapes are mainly native varieties, Chkhaveri and Tsolikouri, and many families still make their wine in qvevri. In September and October the villages celebrate rtveli, the grape harvest: people pick grapes together, press them in a wooden press and make churchkhela. Around Keda, between the Adjaristskali and Merisi valleys, there are forested mountains, old arched bridges and waterfalls, so here you get beautiful nature along with the wine. 📷 Photos: Wojciech Biegun, Aleksey Muhranoff, Yasuhiro Kojima, M. / Wikimedia Commons (CC BY-SA)
