Narikala Castle

One location, many impressions

Narikala Castle is one of the main historical symbols of Tbilisi. The fortress is located on the hill of the city and from its territory there are wide views of old Tbilisi, Mtkvari and the modern districts of the city. The history of Narikala spans centuries and the fortress was an important part of Tbilisi's defense system in different eras. Today, the walls and towers preserved here create a unique atmosphere of old Tbilisi. It is possible to climb up to the castle both on foot and by cable car, which makes the journey itself an interesting experience. Visiting Narikala is especially good in sunny weather, when the panorama of the city unfolds in full.
