One location, many impressions
The stone arched bridge of Tskhemlar is one of the outstanding historical-architectural monuments of Machakhela valley. It is located in the municipality of Khelvachauri, in the village of Tskhemlara, on the river Machakhelistskal. The bridge dates back to the Middle Ages and was built from local hewn stone using boiling. It is distinguished by its proportions and strength - the length of the bridge reaches about 25 meters, and the height of the arch is quite high above the water level, which has protected it from river overflows and floods for centuries. The bridge was historically an important transport artery that connected the villages of the Machakhela valley with each other and with the main trade routes. Today, it is perfectly integrated into the surrounding green landscape and river valley, making it one of the popular tourist stops in Machakhela National Park.
